Another category of face powders I use on a daily basis is finishing powders. I mostly apply them on the center of my face, but away from the T-zone, to give my dry skin a subtle glow in this area. I use finishing powders pretty much as “setting powders” during the cold months.
On the picture above are shown, clockwise from top left: Giorgio Armani Neo Nude Fusion Powder, Chantecaille Éclat Doux Powder, Girlactik Luminous Face Powder, Hourglass Ambient Light Powders. They are all very finely milled and provide a natural sheen to the face.
- Giorgio Armani Neo Nude Fusion Powder
I love this powder so much. It is so fine and gives some coverage and a very natural glow to the skin. I have shades 1.5, 2 and 3 (same principle as the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Compact Powder Foundation, with empty case and powder refills). On good skin days, I can get away with a tinted spf cream or tinted moisturizer and a veil of Neo Nude. It is available on Armani Beauty, Douglas, Flaconi (delivers to Austria, Germany and Switzerland), Lookfantastic. - Chantecaille Éclat Doux Face Powder
Éclat Doux is my best 2020 discovery in terms of face powder. It is very soft and has a creamy texture, almost balmy, that brings luminosity to the skin while perfecting it. It feels very luxe. Unfortunately, it was a limited edition from the 2019 Holiday collection but I managed to get my hands on it in 2020 from Space NK. I wish Chantecaille would bring this powder back. It is pure perfection for my skin in winter. - Girlactik Luminous Face Powder
I would say this powder has the most coverage and the most glowy effect of all the ones presented here, to the point you want to be careful and apply it very sparingly with a fluffy powder brush to avoid to get too heavy of a sheen. I have it in Fair and Light and find the shade Fair almost too dark for me in winter. I can only use the Light one in summer. I discovered the brand Girlactik when traveling to the U.S. (feels like it was in a different life). Their website ships to Europe. It is a small brand/ business and I recommend to check it out. I also like their powder blushes a lot. - Hourglass Ambient Light Powders
On the picture is shown the limited edition and discontinued 6-pan palette from two or three years ago, but the brand launches a similar one every year for the Holiday. From this palette, as you can see from the picture, I use mostly Dim Light (top left) all over my face (except the T-zone) and Diffused Light (top right) that I swipe very gently to set and brighten my under-eye. Both powders are permanent products and sold individually. Hourglass Ambient Light Powders are widely available on Cult Beauty, Douglas, Feelunique, (the 2020 Holiday 6-pan Ambient Lighting Edit Sculpture is currently still available), Niche-Beauty, Sephora, Space NK.
